Vantage Fuels was established in Bendigo in 1985 under Tierney Petroleum, a wholesale Shell Fuels distributor.
Tierney Petroleum, a family owned business, began in September 1985 with the purchase of a Shell Distributorship that encompassed Central Victoria. The Distributorship comprised of depots in Bendigo, Kyneton and Serpentine; and one service station. The business expanded over the years with the purchase of Murray Valley Petroleum, the distribution business for Kerang and Swan Hill.
Under the Shell Distributor model, Tierney Petroleum was able to build a network of Shell branded petrol stations throughout central Victoria. Over time the distribution side of the business was sold back to Shell.
In 2003, Tierney Petroleum ceased its wholesale business and changed the fuel banner of its petrol station network to BP. A decision to rebrand in 2008 saw the company of Tierney Petroleum evolve into the recognisable visage of Vantage Fuels. Vantage Fuels successfully serves the purpose of fuelling and offering an elevated convenience range. With vast opportunity within the P&C industry, Vantage Fuels set about expanding the business umbrella, bringing about the creation of the brand Bowser Bean. Entering the market in 2017, Bowser Bean brings to customers a superior offer – barista made coffee, high quality fresh food, a broad range of everyday convenience items; further enhanced with friendly, efficient service in welcoming café style surrounds. Bowser Bean delivers unrivalled convenience to customers on the road.
Taking the Bowser brand even further 2023 brought about the banner Bowser Bound. Bowser Bound allows for brand recognition for sites who provide a focused coffee and food offer, while still capturing a great convenience range. Capturing the look and feel of the Bowser Bean brand, customers can recognise the sites drawing the link between the growing network of 40+ sites across the Vic & NSW locations.
